Butler, PA – Four Benches, Seven Volunteers, One Very Deserving Family and a 17 Hour Road Trip!  Keystone Ridge Designs, Inc.®, a manufacturer of site furniture in Western Pennsylvania, recently participated in a filming of ABC’s “Extreme Makeover:  Home Edition” with a donation of their exclusive benches to the construction of a dream home for the Nick Family in Alma, Arkansas.

In addition to the product donation, seven members from Keystone Ridge Designs’ Butler , PA office traveled across the country to Arkansas to serve as volunteers on the set.  Helping with multiple jobs from laying sod to actually installing the donated benches, the team worked along side the cast, crew and hundreds of other volunteers to build a house for the deserving family in the “Extreme Makeover:  Home Edition” format of just seven days.

"In planning a unique backyard project, our patented Torque bench featuring diamond tread and I-beam construction caught the Extreme Team eye. What an honor for our company to receive such a compliment for our reputation of design and construction." stated Keystone Ridge Designs’ President, Artie Slear.

The benches used in the house were from Keystone Ridge Designs’ patented Torque series, chosen by the producers for their unique industrial metal design that coordinated with the theme of the family’s backyard.

Beyond just supplying the benches, the Keystone Ridge Designs team felt most privileged to be able to offer their time and help work on the house for such a worthy cause – The Nick Family.  Colleen Nick and her family were the ones surprised on June 9th with the news that their house would be demolished and rebuilt by ABC and the “Extreme Makeover:  Home Edition” Design Team.  Exactly ten years prior, Colleen’s six-year-old daughter, Morgan Nick, was abducted from the parking lot of an Alma ballpark and never found.  Since the disappearance, Colleen has dedicated her life to finding her daughter and helping to prevent similar tragedies from happening to other parents.  She started the Morgan Nick Foundation which works with law officials and parents to provide education that is designed to prevent abduction.

Colleen has continued to live the past 10 years in a small house in Alma with her two other children Logan and Taryn. That is, until Ty Pennington and “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” arrived on their doorstep with trucks full of donations and crowds of volunteers ready to construct a stunning new home.

“Colleen’s credo ‘Love always hopes’ epitomizes the overall sentiment of all participating in this episode of “Extreme Makeover:  Home Edition”, exclaims Vice President of Keystone Ridge Designs, Heather Starcher, “We pray that this event finally brings Morgan home to her family.  We feel we have been blessed with this opportunity to help the Nick family and those other families that their foundation supports across our nation.”

To this resolve, Slear announced that Keystone Ridge Designs, Inc. will donate a portion of the proceeds during the month of July to the Morgan Nick Foundation.

The Nick Family episode aired as a two hour special on August 14 where Keystone Ridge Designs’ Torque benches made their television debut in the the family's backyard skate park. More importantly however, the Morgan Nick story was told to millions of viewers in the hopes that light will be shed on the tragic events at that small-town ballpark 10 years ago and hopefully bring her home where she belongs.

Upon being selected for the ABC program, Colleen Nick released the following statement:  "Our family is honored beyond words to have been chosen for the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition program. We can only imagine how this will change our lives -- structurally and spiritually. A new home will be incredible, but the chance to tell Morgan's story to over 20 million people is the opportunity of a lifetime. When Morgan went missing on that summer night in 1995, I never dreamed that I would be here, 10 years later, Still Missing Morgan. Morgan should be home with her family, friends and those who love her. Now that she is gone, part of my heart is somewhere out there, and no matter how hard I have fought, I have not been able to get it back. I am still missing Morgan. This is an opportunity for the world to hear Morgan's story. It's an opportunity to bring Morgan home... to something better than any of us can imagine."
